Guide for bike tours

Do you have a passion for Brussels and a love for the bicycle? Are you a smooth talker and do you easily find your way through different narrow streets? Than this call for guides might be for you! Cactus is looking for some enthusiastic people to guide bike tours and who want to share their passion for Brussels with groups of tourists, young people, commuters, expats or locals.

Who we are?

Cactus is a young dynamic association and works primarily thanks to the engagement of its volunteers. It’s all about promoting cycling in Brussels because we are convinced that cycling is the most active, social and sustainable way to get around and it’s also the ideal way to discover the capital of Europe. In addition to the guided tours for groups, we also organize various activities to promote cycling in Brussels. More info via or on our Facebook page.

Your challenge?

  • You will guide groups of tourists, young people, commuters, expatriates or locals through known and especially unknown places in Brussels
  • Most of the tours start and end at the Central station. You’ll guide tours that offer a perfect mix between Brussels highlights such as the Marolles, Matonge, Flagey, La Cambre, European Quarter, the Royal Park, Mont des Arts and less obvious places that give a surprising view of the city. As a guide you have the flexibility to add your own favourite places
  • Our main intention of a bike tour is to give people an pleasant experience by bike through Brussels in combination with background information about the places and neighbourhoods where we pass by: history, structure (19 communes and districts), social context and your personal experiences and stories about Brussels of course
  • The bike tours:
    - Up to 12 people maximum
    - Every day of the week if guides are available
    - A tour takes about 3 to 4 hours with breaks included
    - Offered in French, Dutch, English, German and Spanish

  • You are an avid cyclist in Brussels: You can easily find your way over the cobblestone roads of the city but you also know how to get at the Bois de la Cambre or how to visit Thurn & Taxis
  • You are passionate about Brussels, its incredible diversity and you have background knowledge of the city
  • You are not afraid to speak in front of a group of people
  • You speak at least Dutch, French or English, the knowledge of German, Spanish or a combination of these languages is definitely an advantage
  • You are available between April and October to guide at least 5 tours
  • You want to join a nice team of volunteers

Our offer?

  • A run-in period during which you’ll follow two tours with experienced guides of Cactus and a 2 half-days training for bike tours (about Brussels and how to guide)
  • A voluntary fee of 30 euros per tour
  • A growing knowledge and passion for Brussels during our monthly reunions and the trainings
  • New encounters with an occasional drink and dinner with our team of volunteers

  • Apply now your candidacy by completing the form below
  • You’ll be invited for an information moment as soon as possible
  • Based on this meeting, we will select a few candidates who start their run-in period at Cactus
  • After this training period we will decide together whether you will join Cactus or not
